2024

  1. [Student Achievement] ACM India ARCS 2025 organizing committee has invited our PhD student, Saina Sunny, to present her paper, Edit Distance of Finite State Transducers, at the Academic Research and Careers for Students (ARCS) 2025 symposium (https://event.india.acm.org/arcs/home/).The event will take place on February 27–28, 2025, in Coimbatore. ARCS is an annual symposium hosted by ACM India, designed to offer a unique platform for research scholars in Computer Science and related fields across India. This prestigious event provides an opportunity for PhD students to present their latest (accepted) research, fostering collaboration and intellectual exchange with peers and experts in the field.
  2. Dr. Rajesh S. Prabhu Gaonkar, School of Mechanical Sciences, has been awarded the Gomantak Engineering Excellence Award 2024 (Inaugural Edition) in the category of Engineer's Role in Education. Gomantak TV in association with the Government of Goa has constituted Gomantak Engineering Excellence Awards 2024 from this year. It is to celebrate innovation, excellence and spirit of engineering in Goa. It is awarded to Goan Engineers who have excelled in various fields.
  3. Dr. Shakthi Prasad, Assistant Professor in the School of Electrical Sciences has been selected as an INAE Young Associate 2024. He is one of the 29 such INAE Young Associates selected in 2024. You can see the full list here: https://www.inae.in/young-criteria He will be awarded a Certificate as INAE Young Associate for this during the INAE Annual Convention in December.
  4. Shri Sundeep Kumar Nayak, Professor of Practice (Visiting) in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Chair of the Mission LiFE Cell, has been appointed a Special Monitor on matters relating to the thematic area of 'Business and Human Rights' by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Special Monitors of NHRC are analogous to the Special Monitors under the United Nations procedure
  5. [Student Achievement] Mr. Chinraj S, working with Dr. Raja Mitra, SCMS, received the "Best Poster Award from Organic Letters" at the 33rd CRSI National Symposium on Chemistry and CRSI-ACS lectures organized by Dr. Reddy's laboratories Ltd., July 4-6, 2024.


2023

  1. Dr. Sreenath Balakrishnan, Himanshu Marwah (PhD student), Rohit Nautiyal (JRF), Neeraj Singh Fartyal (M.Tech student) received Best Student Paper Award at "International conference on Manipulation, Automation and Robotics at Small Scales 2023" held at New York University at Abu Dhabi.
  2. Prof. B K Mishra, Director IIT Goa has been ranked 11th worldwide in the field of mining and metallurgy in the latest (Oct. 2023) release of world's leading/top scientists by Stanford University.
  3. Prof. B K Mishra, Director IIT Goa has received Global Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding contributions to the Academics, Research, and the Society during the 2023 IEEE IAS Global Conference on Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Technologies
  4. Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, School of Electrical Sciences, Dean (R & D) has been selected for the Editorial Board of IEEE Systems Journals as an Associate Editor. The impact factor of the journal is 4.802.
  5. Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, School of Electrical Sciences, Dean (R & D) has been nominated to serve as a member of IFAC Council.
  6. Dr. Shitala Prasad, Assistant Professor (CSE) has been elevated to Senior Member of IEEE in December 2022.
  7. Dr. Bidhan Pramanic, Assistant Professor (SES) and his PhD student Naresh Mandal have received the Best Poster Award-3rd Place in the International Conference on Nanoscience and Photonics for Medical Applications held at Department of Atomic and Molecular Physics, Manipal Academy of Higher Education in December 2022.


2022

  1. Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, SES, has been elected as a Fellow of the Asia Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association.
  2. Dr. Bidhan Pramanick Assistant Professor (EE), won Best Paper Awards along with his students at INDICON 2022. Their paper was about Point of Care Diagnostics. Glassy Carbon Impedance Sensor for Microfluidic Based Extreme-Point-of-Care Application" along with Naresh Mandal (PhD Student), Priyanshi Saraswat (M Tech Student ).
  3. Dr. Sharad Sinha Associate Professor (CSE), won Best Paper Awards along with his students at INDICON 2022. Their paper was about Technology Enhanced Learning."TinyML Based Physical Computing for Education" along with Anusree Debbarma (M Tech Student ).
  4. Dr. Sharad Sinha Associate Professor (CSE), has been awarded the ACM/IEEE William J. McCalla ICCAD Best Paper Award (front end) at the 2022 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Computer Aided Design together with his collaborators from HKUST, Hong Kong.
  5. Dr. Harpreet Singh has been awarded the Distinction in Doctoral Research for the year 2017 from IIT Delhi for his Ph.D. work. Dr. Harpreet Singh, a faculty member at the School of Mechanical Sciences, primarily works in computational mechanics and is interested in understanding the behavior of composite materials under extreme loading conditions for ballistic applications. His team works in the development of various modeling techniques, aiming for the optimal response of material under dynamic loads. Dr. Harpreet Singh is the coordinator Siemens Lab of IIT Goa.
  6. Dr. Sharad Sinha, Associate Professor, CSE, selected as a member of IT Advisory Council chaired by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, to advise the State on measures needed to build a strong Startup and IT ecosystem.    Link
  7. Dr. Neha Karanjakar, Asst. Professor (Computer Science and Engineering) has received a Best Conference Paper Award at SIMULTECH 2022
  8. [Student Achievement] CSE Ph.D. student, Prachi Kashikar (4th year), guided by Dr. Sharad Sinha has been seleced to participate as a Young Researcher at the 9th Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) from Sept. 18-23 in Heidelberg, Germany.
  9. [Student Achievement] CSE PhD student Pavitra Bhade is one of the winners of DST AWSAR 2021 Award for Best Story in PhD category.


2021

  1. [Student Achievement] Mr. Himanshu Marwah, Ph.D. Scholar in the School of Mechanical Sciences, along with Neeraj Singh Fartyal M. Tech student and Rohit Nautiyal JRF have secured 1st position in Student mechanical design competition at the 5th International Conference on Machines and Mechanism(iNaCoMM) held at IIITDM Jabalpur.
    Mr. Himanshu Marwah is working under the guidance of Dr. Sreenath Balakrishnan from the School of Mechanical Sciences.
  2. [Student Achievement] Mr. Kranthi Panuganti, Ph.D. Scholar in the School of Electrical Sciences, has been selected as a fellow under the PMRF scheme, in the May 2021 cycle.Mr. Kranthi is working under the guidance of Dr. Sheron Figarado from the School of Electrical Sciences.
  3. Dr. Rudra Narayan Roy, School of Mechanical Sciences and Dr. Abhijeet Sangle, School of Chemical and Materials Science have joined as Review Editors, the "Editorial Boards of Frontiers in Thermal Engineering", and "Nano and Microelectronics" respectively.
  4. Dr. Anirudha Ambekar, School of Mechanical Sciences has joined the editorial board of the Frontiers in Thermal Engineering journal as a Review Editor.
  5. Prof. B. Subudhi, SES and Dean (R&D), has been formally elected as a Steering Committee Member of Asian Control Association (ACA) for next 2 years. His membership will begin from 01 Jan 2022.

[Student Achievement] CSE PhD students Prachi Kashikar and Pavitra Bhade, both guided by Dr. Sharad Sinha, have been awarded the GHC Student Scholarship to attend the 2021 Grace Hopper Celebration (https://ghc.anitab.org/) from Monday, Sep. 27 to Friday, Oct. 1. This is hosted in collaboration with ACM - a worldwide organization of computer scientists and engineers.
  9. [Student Achievement] Mr. Akshat Jain, Ph.D. scholar in the school of Mechanical Sciences, has been selected as a fellow under the PMRF scheme, in the December 2020 cycle. Akshat works under the guidance of Dr. Thaseem Thajudeen and Dr. Anirudha Ambedkar from the School of Mechanical Sciences. He is working on the Characterization and mitigation of fine and ultrafine particulate matter from various combustion sources.
  10. [Student Achievement] Prachi Kashikar, CSE PhD student of Dr. Sharad Sinha, awarded ACM MobiSys 2021 Mentorship Grant.
  11. Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, EE and Dean (R&D) has been appointed as Associate Editor, IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy.
  12. Dr. Sharad Sinha, Asst. Prof., CSE has been appointed as Associate Editor of IEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine (JTEHM).
  13. Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, SES, has been appointed as an Associate Editor in the Editorial Board of IET Electronics Letters for three years.
  14. [Student Achievement] Mr.Sagar Pawar (PhD student of Prof. Sachin Kore), won the Gold in Research category of CII MILCA award. Their research was on Electromagnetic Forming and Perforation of Tubes.


2020

  1. Prof. B. Subudhi, EE and Dean (R&D) elected as a Vice President of Automatic Control & Design Optimization Society (ACDOS), Indian National Member Organization (NMO) of International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC)
  2. Prof. B.K. Mishra Director IIT Goa, has been conferred The Institution of Engineers (India) Eminent Engineer Award 2020. The award was presented to him by the Chairman, IEI, Goa State Center & Honorary Secretary IEI , Goa State Centre on behalf of IEI, Durgapur Chapter.
  3. Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, School of Electrical Sciences (SES) is invited to serve as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Access for three years.

2019

  1. Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, School of Electrical Sciences (SES) has been elected as a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE).
  2. Dr. Sandip Haldar of Mechanical Engineering Department has been awarded the prestigious Ramanujan Fellowship of the DST.
  3. IIT Goa will host Mr. Parshu Ram Dhungyel, Associate Lecturer, College of Science and Technology, Royal University of Bhutan under the India Science and Research Fellowship (ISRF) 2019. His application was endorsed and supported by Dr. Sharad Sinha, Asst. Prof. Dept. of CSE, IIT Goa who will act as the advisor for research training under ISRF 2019.
  4. Dr. Sharad Sinha and Dr. Clint P George, Computer Science and Engineering, receive ACM SIGAI Grant to conduct workshop on Artificial Intelligence. The workshop will be conducted in August 2019. ACM SIGAI is the ACM Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence.
  5. IIT Goa wins Defence India Startup Challenge : A team of Dr. Arindam Das, Assistant Professor and Dr. Shakthi Prasad D, Assistant Professor guided by Prof. B K Mishra, Director and Professor of Mechanical Engineering has won the 'Defence India Startup Challenge (DISC-1) launched under iDEX initiative of Govt. of India.
  6. Dr. Sharad Sinha, Asst. Prof. of CSE, has been awarded the DST-INRIA-CNRS Joint Research Grant 2018-2019. The project is in collaboration with INRIA (https://www.inria.fr/en/), the French national research institute for digital sciences. Prof. Olivier Sentieys (http://people.rennes.inria.fr/Olivier.Sentieys/) is the French Principal Investigator in this project. The project will run for three years under the joint IIT Goa and INRIA Associate Team "IntelliVIS" that is established as a result of the grant.
  7. Professor BK Mishra, Director of IIT Goa, has been nominated for three years to the Governing Council of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE). Prof. Mishra will serve as the representative of DST, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India in the Governing Council. INAE functions as the national apex engineering academy covering the entire spectrum of engineering disciplines.
  8. Dr. Sharad Sinha of CSE has recently received an Amazon AWS Educate Grant from Amazon.His grant will enable faculty and students of IIT Goa to benefit from this grant in the following manner:
    The grant is worth US$65,000 annually and will be provided in-kind as Amazon Web Services (AWS) service credits to our faculty and students to use Amazon's Cloud Computing Infrastructure for modeling, simulation, robotics, internet of things, big data analytics etc. research and teaching exercises across all disciplines. Each faculty member will be entitled to US$200 worth of time on Amazon's Cloud Computing Infrastructure and the entitlement of each student is US$100.
  9. The research work of Dr. Bidhan Pramanick (EE) and his coauthors (published in Nature Microsystems and Nano engineering) in December 2018 has been highlighted by The Hindu on 5 January. This research article was also the Editor's pick and was displayed in the journal home page.

2018

  1. A paper entitled 'Single-shot large field of view imaging with scattering media by spatial demultiplexing' by Dr. Sujit Kumar Sahoo of our School of Electrical Sciences, with his co-authors, recently published in Applied Optics', has been designated as 'Editors' Pick by the journal.
  2. Prof. Somenath Biswas from the School of Mathematics and Computer Science will be honored by IIT Kanpur as an Institute Fellow during its Diamond Jubilee Celebration to be held on November 2, 2018.
  3. Dr. Sudhakar Yogaraj, Asst Professor (Mechanical Engineering) has received the prestigious Ramanujan Fellowship from Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of Dept. of Science and Technology. The fellowship runs for five (5) years and allows Prof. Sudhakar to work on his project titled "A multiscale modeling framework for fluid-poroelastic structure interaction".
  4. Dr. Sharad Sinha, Asst. Professor (Computer Science and Engineering) has received a Best Paper Award Nomination at the ACM/IEEE International Conference on Compilers, Architecture and Synthesis for Embedded Systems (CASES 2018) to be held in Torino, Italy, Sept. 30 - Oct. 5, 2018. His paper is related to dynamic memory management in High Level Synthesis, which is a framework for rapid design of digital hardware. This work was done together with his collaborator at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)
  5. Prof. T.S. Rathore, School of Electrical Sciences, IIT Goa has been awarded for the Best Paper published in Institutions of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) journal - 2017" on 30th September 2018 during 61st IETE Annual Technical Convention, Amravati.
