2nd Foundation Day

Indian Institute of Technology Goa (IIT Goa) celebrated its first year of existence on July 30, 2017. It was on this day, a year ago, IIT Goa made its auspicious beginning from the Goa Engineering College campus in the presence of Hon'ble HRD Minister Mr. Prakash Javadekar, the then Hon'ble Defence Minister Mr. Manohar Parrikar and Mr. Laxmikant Parsekar, the then Hon'ble Chief Minister of Goa. A foundation stone for a hostel was also laid down by the Hon'ble HRD Minister in presence of other dignitaries. Last year's historic event was celebrated as the Foundation Day. Mr. Dinar Bhatkar and Mr. Chandrashekhar Inamdar was the Chief guest and Guest of Honour respectively on the occasion. Both of them are graduates of IIT Bombay batch of '76 and have been actively involved with establishment of IIT Goa. Mr. Bhatkar, in his address, inspired the students to break the propensity of 'status quo' and to work hard towards making IIT Goa one of the best institutes of the country.
