Orientation Day

IIT Goa welcomed the 2018 batch of students and their parents through the Orientation program on 05th Aug 2018. After the welcome address, Mr. Prabal Bhatnagar, Gen. Sec. (Academic Affairs) welcomed the new students and told them about student community along with their perspective on academic as well as extra-curricular activities. This was followed by a presentation by Prof. Sachin Kore, Dean (SA & AP) wherein he presented the academic performance of the students of last two batches along with the constant improvement in the JEE rank of students opting for IIT Goa. He also introduced the faculty members and all the facilities available at IIT to the incoming batch and their parents. After that, three distinguished faculty members namely Prof. T. S. Rathore, Prof. Somenath Biswas and Prof. Dhirendra Bahadur welcomed the students on behalf of their departments while at the same time sharing some words of wisdom from their vast experience. Then Prof. B. K. Mishra, Director IIT Goa addressed the new students and extended the formal welcome on behalf of the whole IIT Goa fraternity. He emphasized on the need to have a holistic technical education and shared some of the unique initiatives being taken by IIT Goa in this regard. Finally, Dr. Kshirsagar expressed his gratitude to the institute administration on behalf on all the parents. The formal part of Orientation program was followed by registration of the new students from all the core branches.
