IIT Goa organized an IGSTC supported Indo-German bilateral workshop titled "Catalytic Chemical Processes for Tomorrow (CatChemPro-2024)" from 21-23rd August, 2024. The theme of the workshop focussed around the design, synthesis and application of novel catalytic systems for various applications such as water electrolysis, hydrogen production, biomass upconversion, optoelectronic materials, carbon recycling etc.. The workshop featured plenary talks, invited lectures, breakout thematic sessions and podium discussions. A total of thirty participants representing over twenty eminent universities and institutions from across Germany such as Max-Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces, Potsdam, Technical University Berlin etc. and from India such as IISc Bangalore, IIT Delhi, JNCASR Bangalore, IISER Kolkata etc. participated in the workshop. One of the distinguishing features of the workshop was a session dedicated to “Green Chemistry Education and Practices”, which was also attended by a host of teachers and lecturers from different local colleges affiliated to Goa university. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Rishikesh Narayan (Assoc. Prof., SCMS, IIT Goa) and Dr. Michelle Browne (Group Leader, Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin). It ended with a resolve to seed and support future bilateral collaborative initiatives in the crucial domain of sustainability in catalytic processes.
