Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering

Ph.D. in Materials Engineering

The Ph.D. in Materials Engineering aims to advance knowledge in the design, synthesis, characterization, and application of advanced materials. The program covers a wide spectrum including nanomaterials, energy storage materials, electronic and functional materials, biomaterials, and structural materials. Emphasis is placed on understanding structure–property relationships and developing materials for next-generation technologies. Programme Structure

  • The Ph.D. programme typically involves:
    • Coursework (necessary credit acquirement)
    • Qualifying/Comprehensive examination (after acquirement of necessary credits)
    • Independent research under faculty supervision (Yearly Monitoring through Department)
    • Publication of research work in reputed journals
    • Submission of thesis and viva voce
  • Duration:
    • Full-time: ~3–5 years
    • Part-time: as per institute norms

Admissions and Eligibility Criteria

  • Admissions are conducted twice a year (Autumn & Spring semesters) either Full- Time or Part-Time
  • Candidates have to fulfil the requirements set by the institute. These are: At least First Division or equivalent in M.A./ M.Sc./ B.Tech./ B.E./ MCA/ M.Tech./ M. Phil. or equivalent degree in appropriate branches.
  • Selection is based on: Academic Record, GATE/NET or equivalent qualification (as per institute norms), Interview
