Two-year Master of Science (M.Sc.) curriculum in Physics
Program Overview
Open to students with a bachelor’s degree in Physics, qualified through the all-India entrance examination JAM. There is a wide range of core courses that emphasize the fundamentals of the subject while accounting for its ongoing evolution. A strong, hands-on experimental component, in the form of the laboratory courses, allows students to explore a range of experiments, from classic to more recent and advanced. A variety of advanced elective courses offered in groups provide a glimpse and an in-depth understanding of frontier areas of the current research field, helping students choose a topic for the master’s project that spans the last two semesters. The objective of the present curriculum is to empower students with the knowledge and exposure required to contribute to the community as a potential human resource for the country, addressing future challenges and advancing nation-building.

Structure of the Program
The program consists of 4 semesters. The first two semesters consist of core courses. The third and fourth semesters are largely elective courses in both theory and experiments, in addition to the master’s project.
