About the Schools

The Schools of Chemical and Materials Science (SCMS), Electrical Sciences (SES) and Mathematics and Computer Science (SMCS) deliver high quality education across diverse fields of Chemical and Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering. The schools have a mix of young and experienced faculty members. Both the faculty and research scholars of the Schools actively address open-ended research challenges in cutting-edge areas. Primary research areas include electrochemical energy conversion and storage devices, soft matter and colloidal science, functionalized nanostructured materials, power electronics and motor drives, high voltage and plasma engineering, communication, algorithms, complexity theory, machine learning, formal methods, automata, semigroups and functional programming, IoT, system simulation, software verification, compilers, reconfigurable and AI hardware, cybersecurity and applications in healthcare and marine tech. The Schools have established state of-the-art laboratories to support UG and PG students and emphasize world-class training with hands-on learning experiences tailored to students' interests and aligned with industry needs, fostering their growth and readiness to meet professional demands.
