The 10th Indian School on Logic and its Applications will take place at IIT GOA from 3rd to 7th June, 2024. The short courses of the summer school are listed below.

Infinite Game Theory

  • Introduction to descriptive set theory.
  • Introduction to game theory and infinite games.
  • Determinacy and the Gale-Stewart theorem.
  • Generalizations of the Gale-Stewart Theorem. Martin’s theorem.
  • Applications of infinite games to descriptive set theory.
  • Applications of infinite games to computer science.


Automata & Semigroups

  • Definitions of semigroups, monoids, and morphisms.
  • Recognition by finite monoids and syntactic monoids.
  • Green’s relations
  • Varieties of monoids and languages
  • Elementary varieties of languages
  • Schützenberger’s theorem
  • Simon’s factorization forest theorem


The school welcomes students from all over the world and from diverse fields of study, including Mathematics, Philosophy, Computer Science, Linguistics, and other related areas.

Due to space constraints the number of participants are limited to 40.

ISLA is a biennial event of the Association FOR Logic in India (ALI). Past editions of the school were held in IISERB, Jadavpur University, PSG College of Technology, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, University of Hyderabad, Manipal University, Tezpur University and IIEST Shibpur.
