2nd Foundation Day
Indian Institute of Technology Goa (IIT Goa) celebrated its first year of existence on July 30, 2017. It was on this day, a year ago, IIT Goa made its auspicious beginning from the Goa Engineering College campus in the presence of Hon’ble HRD Minister Mr. Prakash Javadekar, the then Hon’ble Defence Minister Mr. Manohar Parrikar and Mr. Laxmikant Parsekar, the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa. A foundation stone for a hostel was also laid down by the Hon’ble HRD Minister in presence of other dignitaries. Last year’s historic event was celebrated as the Foundation Day. Mr. Dinar Bhatkar and Mr. Chandrashekhar Inamdar was the Chief guest and Guest of Honour respectively on the occasion. Both of them are graduates of IIT Bombay batch of ‘76 and have been actively involved with establishment of IIT Goa. Mr. Bhatkar, in his address, inspired the students to break the propensity of ‘status quo’ and to work hard towards making IIT Goa one of the best institutes of the country.

IIT Goa Logo Unveiled
The official logo of IIT Goa was unveiled on the occasion by Mr. Dinar Bhatkar. It was designed by Mr. Pranoy Das, an IISER Kolkata student, with inputs from the Director of IIT Goa Prof. B.K. Mishra. Play Video

International Yoga Day
In December 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga, after the call for the adoption of 21 June as International Day of Yoga was made by the Hon’ble Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. As a part of the global initiative and as an endeavour towards promoting a holistic approach to health and well-being, IIT Goa celebrated the “International Yoga Day” on its GEC campus. The program started with an address by Prof. Sharad Bhartiya, Dean, IIT Goa, in which he laid a lot of importance on well being and health of human body and soul through yoga. He said, “With International Yoga Day Celebrations, Yoga has become a universal phenomenon and it is a joyous moment for us to be a part of it”. Going further Mr. Vinod Chimulkar from Patanjali Yog Samiti, Ponda and his team gave a lecture-cum-demonstration on yoga with the help of volunteers. Students and faculty members of the Institute also performance yoga together on the occasion.

Hackathon 2017
The program was inaugurated by Prof B K Mishra (Director IIT Goa ), Prof. Shiva Prasad (Faculty In-Charge IIT Goa), Prof. Dinar Bhatkar (IIT Bombay Alumni), Prof. Sharad Bhartiya (Dean IIT Goa), Prof. Shekhar Inamdar (IIT Bombay Alumni). It was held at IIT Goa Lecture Hall Guided and tutored by : IIT Bombay B.Tech Students - Disip Chaturvedi,  Naman Gupta, Soham Shanbhag, Tejendhu M K. Designed a Robot which is operated over Bluetooth with the use of Android App.
